Hell in a Cell 2018
At WWE Hell in a Cell 2018, the Universal Title Hell in a Cell Match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman came to an abrupt end when The Beast Incarnate suddenly reemerged and laid waste to everything in sight. Plus, Becky Lynch recaptured the SmackDown Women’s Title from Charlotte Flair, the WWE Title Match between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe met a controversial finish, and much more.
Main event
In the main event, Roman Reigns defended the WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman in a Hell in a Cell match with Mick Foley as the special guest referee. Strowman struck Reigns with the Steel Steps and performed a Running Powerslam on Reigns for a near-fall. Reigns performed a Spear through a table on Strowman for a near-fall. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre attempted to interfere but Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose attacked McIntyre and Ziggler. Atop the cell, Ziggler performed a Superkick on Rollins but Ambrose struck McIntyre and Ziggler with a kendo stick. Ambrose and McIntyre collided and Rollins and Ziggler fell off the cell through the announce tables. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman appeared; Lesnar removed the door and Heyman sprayed Foley with an unknown substance. Lesnar attacked Strowman and Reigns with F5s before departing. The match was ruled a no-contest, meaning Reigns retained the title.
Preliminary matches
In the opening match, Jeff Hardy faced Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell match. Orton used a screwdriver to attack Hardy’s ear but Hardy attacked Orton with a Low Blow. Hardy performed a Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb onto a Chair on Orton for a near-fall. Hardy climbed a ladder and attempted a Splash using the cell but Orton avoided, causing Hardy to fall through a table. Orton pinned Hardy to win.
Next, Charlotte defended the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch. Charlotte attempted a Spear but Lynch countered and pinned Charlotte to win the title.
After that, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre defended the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. McIntyre performed a Claymore on Rollins and Ziggler pinned Rollins to retain the title.
Later, AJ Styles defended the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe. Styles attempted a springboard but Joe countered into the Coquina Clutch, which Styles countered into a roll up to retain the title.
Following that, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella faced The Miz and Maryse. Maryse pinned Brie with a roll up whilst holding Brie’s tights to win.
In the penultimate match, Ronda Rousey defended the WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss. Rousey forced Bliss to submit to an Armbar to retain the title.
